We've launched a new YouTube channel!

MBUK TV is the new place to find the best mountain biking adventures, alongside the latest reviews and interviews with the sport’s most exciting riders – direct to your screens.

Our team of familiar faces will be dropping two videos onto our new YouTube channel every week.

The channel will celebrate the sport in all its glory, delving into the technology, trends, culture and personalities that make it so exciting and fun – and we can guarantee plenty of laughs along the way too.

Tom Marvin, our former senior technical editor, will be the main man in front of the camera, while Max Wilman remains at the helm as our videographer.

They'll be joined by BikeRadar regulars Alex Evans, Will Soffe and Robin Weaver, who between them bring more than 84 years of experience to the channel from riding, testing and writing about all things mountain biking.

You can expect to see a host of pro riders and industry insiders joining us along the way. too.

Our weekly podcast – available on YouTube, Spotify and anywhere else you get your podcasts – will feature world-class riders, with everyone from Brendan Fairclough, Tracy Moseley and Reece Wilson through to Olympic athletes such as Charlie Aldridge.

What you can expect from MBUK TV

MBUK TV, just like the magazine it was born from, will cover a broad range of topics – with videos including exciting challenges, reviews of the latest kit, tech opinions, and the most important workshop tips and tricks to keep your bike rolling smoothly.

Here’s a taster of the first four MBUK TV videos…

Taking on a terrifying World Cup DH track for the first time

Have you ever ridden a World Cup downhill track? Our man Tom Marvin never has. Nor has he ever ridden a downhill bike, for that matter.

So, having been challenged by Saracen Bikes to tackle the infamous Fort William course on one of its Myst downhill rigs, can Tom muster the mental strength to take on this onslaught of rocks, roots, chutes, drops and jumps?

Fortunately, Tom has the knowledge of the Madison Saracen Factory Race Team to draw upon, with team riders Matt Walker, George Madley, Matt Simmonds and manager Will Longden (formerly of Team MBUK) on hand to give him some hints and tips.

Get better braking for free – a World Cup mechanic’s top tips

Stopping, cornering, controlling – your brakes are key to all of these things. But often, a few little tweaks can help you get more performance from them.

Our man in the workshop, Will Soffe, has been a World Cup mechanic, and if there’s anything those guys and girls need, it’s on-point brakes. Will talks us through the key steps to getting your brakes set up as well as possible in this tech walkthrough.

Brendan Fairclough on Rampage, Deathgrip 2 and 20 years of racing

Brendan Fairclough is one of the UK’s most stylish and famous mountain bikers, and we’ve dragged him into the MBUK podcast studio for a chat.

From his days racing Downhill World Cups through to his numerous appearances at the world’s most gnarly MTB event, Red Bull Rampage, hosts Rob and Tom delve into Brendan’s career with him.

Competing is a huge part of Fairclough’s life, but so is filmmaking. His original Deathgrip movie is perhaps the biggest MTB film ever, but could it be superseded by the recently released Deathgrip 2. How does he cope with the gruelling shooting and production schedule?

If that’s not enough, his films’ namesake, the DMR DeathGrip, has long been a pet project. How did Fairclough develop one of the most popular MTB grips, and how did he and the DMR team hone it further for its recent update?

The RockShox Lyrik is better than the Fox 36 (and here’s why)

Which is best, the RockShox Lyrik Ultimate or the Fox 36 Factory? MBUK’s hard-charging tester, Alex Evans, has ridden both of these popular suspension forks head to head, to work out which one performs best for your cash.

Built for enduro racers and heavier or more aggressive trail riders, both are popular components on enduro bikes and eMTBs, and likely upgrades for riders looking for improved performance up-front.

Both forks have recently been updated too. The Lyrik features RockShox’s 2025 Charger 3.1 damper, with improved suppleness and a more useable adjustment range, as well as the DebonAir+ air spring and ButterCups. Meanwhile, the 36 has Fox’s GRIP X damper, with more user adjustability for improved control and comfort.

Meet the team…

Tom Marvin, presenter

Headshot of Bike of the Year 2024 tester Tom Marvin
Tom Marvin is a veteran of half-a-dozen Bike of the Year tests. Our Media

For the past 12 years, Tom has been testing the latest and greatest tech for MBUK, while also throwing himself into any trip, challenge or feature he can squeeze into his busy calendar.

From riding the highest peaks in Europe to racing fat bikes in the Arctic and completing half-a-dozen Trail Bike of the Year tests to delving into the minutiae of waterproof fabric technology, he’s done it all.

Max Wilman, videographer

You'll find Max both behind and in front of the camera.

Max has lived the dream as an MTB guide in sunnier climes and has swung his camera around the race scene too.

Now, he’s our man behind the lens, capturing and editing all our videos.

He’ll likely make cameos on camera, hitting the biggest jumps he dares and slapping turns with his 20kg camera bag on his back.

Rob Weaver, tech supremo

Rob is one of the most experienced and respected MTB testers in the industry. Our Media

Rob’s been in the mountain bike game longer than most, with a wealth of experience gained from racing cross-country, downhill and enduro, to being one of the most trusted testers in the industry.

He’s not shy of pedalling up big hills, nor covering big distances, but show him a downhill, and he’ll be off like a rocket.

Alex Evans, testing specialist

Alex calls Scotland's Tweed Valley home. Our Media

There are few testers brands fear more than Alex. His mind-boggling riding skills and super-analytical assessment of product performance means he’s the man to dig deep into a bike’s highs and lows.

He lives in the Tweed Valley, home to Enduro World Cup races and racers, and yet frequently tops the charts when it comes to times down the hill. Read into that what you will…

Will Soffe, mechanical mastermind

Fox suspension technician? Tick. Atherton Racing mechanic? Tick.

Our man in the workshop has all the necessary skills to keep your bike in tip-top condition for the trails.

Handily, Will's also a dab-hand at communicating exactly what you need to do to ensure your bike is ready to ride. He'll be taking control of our workshop content across MBUK and BikeRadar.
