Downhill is often said to be the technical pinnacle of mountain bike racing – courses feature high speeds, jumps, drops, rock gardens and tons of roots.

But just how hard are they? Can an everyday rider get down a World Cup downhill track without having to push for half of it?

Saracen Bikes and Nevis Range challenged MBUK TV presenter Tom Marvin to take on the legendary Fort William track in Scotland to find out.

While the Madison Saracen Factory Race Team has sadly disbanded for 2025, the bike brand has struck up a new partnership with Nevis Range – home of the famous Fort William track.

Saracen’s Myst DH bikes are available to hire at the centre, so Tom was able to jump on one for the day.

Fortunately, he had the combined wisdom of the team’s riders – Matt Walker, George Madley, Matt Simmonds and team manager Will Longden – to guide him with their hints and tips. They also gave us their predictions on how he’d get on. Watch the video to find out…
