Maratona dles Dolomites – one of the world’s toughest one-day Gran Fondos – is now open for entries.
Held in Italy, last year’s event saw more than 30,000 eager roadies apply for the 9,000 available places. Registration for the 2015 Maratona dles Dolomites, due to be held on 5 July, is open until 5 November, after which places for the event will be drawn. After that, only charity places will be available.
Initial registration costs €2, so it’s not a massive gamble for the chance to ride this incredible event, which features three courses.
The full Maratona takes in eight Dolomites passes over 138km with a total ascent of 4,230m. The Middle course is 106km with 3,130m of climbing over six passes, while the Sellaronda is a 55km route with 1,780m to overcome.
The full event costs €89 / £70 / US$114 if your name is drawn from the ballot.
