German carbon wheel specialists Lightweight have just announced an update to their already excellent Standard III C clinchers, calling them Meilenstein C.
Lightweight say that by using new carbon fibre composites and methods of construction, they can make the wheels even stronger than the current Standard IIIs. Although with a claimed weight of 1180g/pair for the 16/20 spoke front/rear Meilenstein C, they're actually 100g heavier than the Standard III Cs that we reviewed. Make of that what you will but Lightweight say the Meilensteins have a greater resistance to heat build up on the rim and a harder wearing brake surface, which is good news for riders.
The other good news is that the upgrade won't add any more onto the price of the wheels, although at €3830 (EU price, excluding Germany where they are cheaper) they are still very much premium items.
