GT Bicycles is recruiting 35 amateur mountain bike racers from throughout the US for a new grassroots mountain bike program: the GT Dirt Coalition.
The riders will represent GT bicycles and the International Mountain Biking Association at a minimum of six races during the 2009 season.
“Amateurs are the unsung heroes of mountain bike racing,” said Jenni Cathcart, director of marketing for GT Bicycles. “The GT Dirt Coalition rewards their competitive spirit and commitment to cycling.”
Each rider will receive a GT Zaskar Carbon Pro hardtail mountain bike or Marathon Carbon Pro, a Dirt Coalition tent, two race kits and other GT merchandise. The sponsorship package is valued at US$4,200-$5,000.
Riders will be chosen based on their leadership in the cycling community, involvement in advocacy, local bike shop affiliations, proposed 2009 race schedule and past race results.
To apply, complete the online application form before 5 February. Any rider who is paid to race or holds a professional cycling license isn’t eligible to enter and all riders must be 18 years old or older.
