The Giant TCR Advanced already boasted the best pedaling-stiffness-to-weight ratio of any production road race bike, and now the Taiwanese powerhouse has reworked the line to include hydraulic discs, thru-axles and tubeless wheels and tires.
The new TCR Disc line includes three bikes — TCR Advanced SL Disc, TCR Advanced Pro Disc and TCR Advanced Disc — which will be available in July. Prices were not immediately available.

The TCR Disc bikes feature flat mount disc brakes, with 100x12mm front and 142x12mm rear thru-axles.
Impressively, Giant has maintained the racy 405mm chainstays on all the bikes. Many brands have extended their chainstays slightly to accommodate discs, while Specialized used a custom-offset rear wheel to keep the stays racy and short on the Tarmac Disc.
Giant had already committed to disc brakes on every one of its cyclocross bikes.
On the top end, the TCR Advanced SL Disc and TCR Advanced Pro Disc bikes come with Giant’s SLR Disc wheels and the brand new Gavia SLR tubeless tires.
While disc brakes’ adoption in the pro peloton hasn’t exactly been smooth, Giant’s WorldTour squad, Giant-Alpecin, helped develop and field test the new TCR Disc bikes.
2017 Giant TCR Advanced SL 0 Disc
The new bikes build on a long tradition of compact road design at Giant that goes back to pro racing in the late ’90s. For the TCR Disc bikes, giant reworked the tubing to accommodate the disc brakes as well as overhauling the seatpost design.
The TCR Advanced gets a new Variant integrated seatmast.
The TCR Advanced SL Disc model comes in four sizes, with the Giant SLR 0 wheels, Giant Gavia SLR tubeless tires, and SRAM Red eTap.
The US price is $8,250. UK pricing has not yet been announced.
2017 Giant TCR Advanced Pro 1 Disc
The TCR Advanced Pro Disc series gets the same design of frame, including the Giant’s oversized OverDrive 2 steerer tube and internal cable routing, but features a nonintegrated Variant seatpost.
The TCR Advanced Pro Disc model comes in six sizes, with Giant SLR 1 wheels, Giant Gavia SLR tubeless tires, and a Shimano Ultegra groupset.
The US price is $4,700. UK pricing has not yet been announced.
2017 Giant TCR Advanced 1 Disc
The TCR Advanced Disc series has the same composite frame as the TCR Advanced Pro Disc, but with a composite fork and hybrid alloy/composite OverDrive steerer tube. It also comes in six sizes.
The TCR Advance 1 Disc is set to retail for US$2,450 / AU$2,999. UK pricing has not yet been announced.
