A growing number of component companies are throwing their hats in the dropper seatpost ring. So far this year, 9Point8, Easton / Race Face and Crankbrothers have introduced new adjustable-height seatposts. Not to be outdone, component manufacturer FSA is also in the late stages of developing its first dropper seatpost.

This yet-to-be-named seatpost, which the company states will reside in its Gravity line of all-mountain components, is expected to be available next spring. “We know it’s definitely needed,” said Herd Tai, FSA’s director of product engineering.

The FSA dropper will come in 100 and 125mm version in both 30.9 and 31.6mm diameters. It incorporates FSA’s existing two-bolt saddle rail clamp and uses a rebuildable cartridge system and a cable-actuated lever.

FSA is positioning its dropper at the more attainable end of the seatpost spectrum. It is expected to retail for $299. (UK and Australian pricing have yet to be finalized.)
