Fizik will introduce a wide-fit option for its Vento Proxy mountain bike show following demand from dealers and consumers.

Fizik has long offered wide-fit options on many of its shoes but is extending options to cover a broader range of models and performance levels. The Proxy is the first to come from the revamped line-up, with others to follow soon.

Hannah Wilson, from Fizik’s UK distributor, Extra, explained the rationale behind the new range: "45 per cent of [Fizik’s] second-tier shoes sold in the UK are now wide fit. It’s 49 per cent for the third-tier options.”

A spokesperson for Fizik said that number is even higher in other territories, with wide-fit shoes comprising more than 90 per cent of sales in Asia.

Wide-fit shoes have a higher-volume upper, wider toe box and broader outsole to account for bigger or flatter feet.

The Vento Proxy is an all-rounder model designed for cross-country, gravel and cyclocross racing, and sits in Fizik’s second tier of off-road shoes, pairing a carbon-reinforced nylon outsole with a single Boa Li2 dial and synthetic upper.
