The Section is Giro's first in-mould pisspot helmet, which means the hard outer shell is fused to the EPS inner instead of just being glued on. As a result it should be stronger, lighter and more durable.

It features a much harder outer shell than TSG's similar in-mould Superlight model, and consequently weighs a bit more, although it should shrug off dents and knocks better.

Claimed weight is 296g but our medium sample weighed 319g, compared to 286g for the TSG. It's significantly lighter than Giro's current pisspot, the 445g Flak.

Eight vents should help keep your head cool, and it's available in three sizes. Stock colours for the UK are matt black, white/gold and glossy Paul Basagotia Blue – look out for some limited edition versions next year. First stock is due to arrive in the UK in mid-December 2009. RRP is £39.99.
