UK bike shop chain Evans Cycles are hosting a new show at Redbridge Cycling Centre in London on 19-20 March. As well as the chance to try out the latest bikes at what's being called "the country's biggest demo weekend", there'll also be a sportive and a family fun ride.
Bikes will be available from the likes of Scott, BMC, Fuji, Colnago, Cannondale, Lapierre, Santa Cruz, Niner, Brompton and own-brand Pinnacle, who'll be unveiling their 2011 range. There'll also be bike bits and clothing from the likes of Garmin, USE, Cateye, Polar, Gore Bike Wear, Endura, Helly Hansen and Fox.
The MAD mountain bike display team will be on hand to entertain the crowds and offer coaching advice, there'll be FixIt! bike maintenance sessions running throughout the weekend, and Geoff Thomas, the former England footballer, will reveal how he overcame leukaemia and rode all 3,500km of the 2005 Tour de France route.
On the Saturday there'll be a sportive with a choice of 30-, 60- or 90-mile routes, while on the Sunday there'll be a 10-mile family ride. Both will take in local forest lanes and countryside and finish on the Redbridge road circuit. Organisers are also promising lots of activities for children, including face painting and a bouncy castle.
Entry costs £5, or £15 if you want to enter the sportive. Children under 16 go free with a paying adult. Dean Stacey, RideIt! event manager, said: “We have a packed weekend planned with something for everyone. For racers looking for a competitive edge to family and friends wanting a fun day out, the RideIt! Cycle Show will have it all.” For more details, visit the Evans Cycles website.
