Swedish company POC were showing off a new mountain bike trail lid, the Trabec, at this year's Eurobike trade show.

Available in two guises – the Trabec Race and Trabec – the helmet takes aesthetic cues from the likes of Giro’s Xen and Fox’s Flux, extending down to cover the back of the head. The Race version has more outer protection than the standard model.

According to POC founder Stefan Ytterborn, the Trabec's construction is inspired by the human skeleton and its "spongy bone character". Aramid (the stuff used in ballistic body armour) is combined with EPS foam for ultimate protection.

Word just in is that the Trabec has just been awarded a Eurobike Award, and we look forward to testing it for BikeRadar, so keep your eyes peeled for a full review.
