If you’re looking for one last sportive hit-out before the off-season, the 2014 Wiggle Etape Cymru could end your year on closed-road high.
Taking placing this weekend, on 14 September, the Etape Cymru, based at Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse in Wrexham, is an 85-mile traffic-free roam around some of Wales’ most beautiful landscapes.
The route includes a timed ascent of the notorious Horseshoe Pass, which will be timed as a King of the Mountains challenge. At 6.1km in length – and without cars to worry about – it’s about as close as you can get to scaling a Tour climb in the UK.
The route, which features over 1,800m of climing, also takes on The Shelf and World’s End climbs.
Check out the route and sign up at the Etape Cymru website.
