Olympic silver medallist, British time trial champion and current long distance duathlon world champion, Emma Pooley, is to attend the first British Cycling Breeze Challenge event in Lancashire on Sunday, 12 October.
The Breeze network is the UK’s biggest programme to get women into riding bikes, and the Lancashire Breeze Challenge, which begins at the UCLan Sports Arena, will offer a 50 or 100km sportive ride through glorious Lancastrian countryside. Riders will be offered training advice in advance of the event and the routes will sport feed stations along with “a host of activities for all the family to enjoy”.
The Lancashire event will follow a week after the Warwickshire-based event on 5 October, which offers riders the same distance choices.
Pooley said: “The Breeze programme is a fantastic initiative that encourages women to get back on a bike, and enjoy the health and social benefits that recreational cycling has to offer. I am very proud to be joining the participants at the Lancashire event and am looking forward to sharing their special day.”
