Italian water bottle, tool and indoor trainer manufacturer, Elite, launched a program called, ‘Elite for Haiti,’ on Wednesday to support the relief effort for victims of the Haiti earthquake.
The initiative calls for immediate production and distribution of a special water bottle designed in the colours of the Haitian flag with two hands reaching out in a symbol of aid. All proceeds will go to those in need.
“Through the media we’ve learned that the lack of drinking water is one of the foremost emergencies on the island,” said Alessio Sartore, Elite’s marketing director. “These water bottles will not only serve to quench the thirst of athletes, but we hope that they can contribute to bringing water and aid to the Haitian people."
Elite plans to cover the production costs of the water bottles and the proceeds from their sale will be donated entirely to charitable organizations for the people of Haiti through the Doctors without Borders organization.
“With a simple gesture you can do something important to help those in need,” said Sartore. “Our staff is working hard to get this initiative up and running.”
The Elite for Haiti water bottle will be available in most bike shops, already selling Elite products, starting in early February.
