Following the huge success of the inaugural event, Cyclothon UK returns to Brands Hatch on Thursday 13 September 2012. As a special offer for this month, BikeRadar readers can obtain a 20% discount on entry fees to this year's event.
Cyclothon UK is a team relay road endurance race round the legendary Grand Prix Circuit. Teams of 4-8 riders are invited to challenge themselves and each other in relay events of 8 or 12 hours in duration.
Cyclothon UK differs from many sportives and endurance challenges in that it provides an added level of quality, comfort and luxury for the more discerning rider. It was devised by former England and Bath Rugby prop forward Victor Ubogu, and his sports and hospitality company, VU Ltd.
"We’re all getting older and enjoy our comforts and it’s not enough to sit on the floor and eat a soggy sandwich at a rest stop," said Ubogu. "I wanted to provide the same level of quality and style we apply to all the VU Ltd hospitality events. So utilising the superb facilities at Brands Hatch, riders will enjoy hearty catering throughout the day, complimentary massages, excellent entertainment, comfortable seating areas, hot showers, WIFI access, plenty of cake and even a refreshing beer at the finish."
But don’t expect all these indulgences to get in the way of a fierce battle on the track. Teams from Schwalbe, Rose Bikes, Nintendo, Sega and BikeRadar will be going head to head and sporting celebrities are lining up for the challenge too.

Phil de Glanville, who captained England Rugby in 1996 is skipper of Team Bulldogs and along with team mates Rory Underwood, Ian Hunter, Jon Sleightholme, and Jon Callard have thrown down the gauntlet to other sporting challengers. Victor Ubogu, Mark Regan, Nigel Redman, Craig Chalmers, Colin Charvis and David Hilton will be racing, as well as Olympic skier and avid cyclist Graham Bell.
De Glanville reveals their secret weapon: "We will be training very hard, and now that we have Sleights on board we will all get in the slipstream of his nose and will be hard to beat."
The prize list for this year's Cyclothon UK is a big incentive to take part. This year's category winners will be rewarded with bikes and accessories from Rose, Hotlines and Schwalbe, or a luxury European cycling holiday courtesy of Love Velo.
