Continental were showing off their new time trial tyre, the Grand Prix TT, at this week's Cycle Show 2011 in Birmingham, England. Used by Germany’s Tony Martin during his World Championship winning run in Copenhagen last week, it's the first clincher tyre to win a modern TT world title.

The 180g tyre has an ultra fine 330 TPI casing, making it very supple, with added Vectran puncture protection. While the centre of the tread is slick, the edges have a rougher texture for improved cornering. Available in a 700x23 size only, it'll go on sale in the UK from January 2012 as a limited edition special for £42.95.

Conti also have a new cyclo-cross tyre for the 2011/12 season. The CycloX-King is a UCI-compliant, 320g clincher which uses the German company's fast-rolling Black Chili compound. It comes in 700x32/35/90 sizes and costs £18.95.
