New model will fill a longstanding gap

Cannondale-sponsored racer Ryan Trebon recently provided a sneak preview of Chris King's latest prototype component: a new front hub compatible with Cannondale Lefty hubs. Chris King isn't releasing technical information just yet but we can still see some interesting details.

The new hub maintains the usual Chris King aesthetic with a moderately barrel-shaped, large-diameter body and a meaty six-bolt rotor interface. Bearing preload is clearly adjustable via a threaded collar, and the adjustment is locked in place with a simple pinch bolt.

More interesting, however, is how Chris King has chosen to secure the hub to the Lefty axle. Instead of a simple bolt, Chris King appears to have machined its own custom hardware with a head that mirrors the shape of its legendary headsets.

Although we don't know weights or available colors, we do know the prices and the anticipated release date: Chris King Lefty-compatible hubs with stainless steel bearings will cost US$235, while ceramic bearings will push the cost up to US$319. Both will be officially released on October 1.

Stay tuned for more.
