Following a job advertisement for an Australian Marketing Manager a few months back, German brand Canyon Bicycles has just announced their long awaited entry into Australia and New Zealand. It's expected that Canyon’s 2016 range should be available in Australia and New Zealand by the end of the year.
With two WorldTour teams aboard their bikes, Canyon is often praised for its high value, high performance rides. Canyon has been selling bikes consumer direct online, which are assembled in their Koblenz, Germany based factory and shipped to riders globally; however until now they haven’t been available to Australian or New Zealand buyers (and still not North American customers).
“We have been eyeing up Australia and New Zealand for a number of years and are now prepared for market entry,” said Canyon’s Head of Business Development & Business Intelligence, Ward Grootjans. “When visiting Australia a few months ago I was taken aback by how large and engaged the cycling community is. Talking to riders over there it was clear that Canyon will be most welcome!”
Canyon has a full range of road and mountain bikes
Despite their overseas online presence, Darryl Moliere formerly of Advance Traders will be leading the Melbourne-based Australian outfit.
“Having recently returned from a visit to Canyon's home in Koblenz it was clear to see that the whole team there, from R&D right through to production and quality assurance, is focused and driven to create the best bikes, as proven by the numerous awards and distinctions Canyon bikes have received already in Europe.” Moliere said. “To be able to offer these bikes to the Australian and New Zealand markets for the first time with a level of service that matches the product quality is going to be a new and exciting period for all cycling enthusiasts from Down Under.”
This announcement follows the German brand's expansion into the South Korean and Japanese markets last year.
