Cannondale has launched the Adventure Neo electric city bike, with a step-through frame and everything you need for urban riding, cycling to work or getting out for a spin at the weekends. Cannondale claims it’s the most comfortable bike you’ll ever ride.
It comes in four spec levels with prices from £2,500 / €2,499 to £3,800 / €3,999, all powered by Bosch motor systems.
The top-spec Cannondale Adventure Neo 1 EQ gets a Bosch Performance Line Cruise mid-mounted motor and a removable 625Wh battery, for a quoted range of up to 160km/100 miles.
Other features on the top-spec model include a rear view radar below the rear light – a collaboration with Garmin using the same tech as in the Garmin Varia RTL 510.
The radar alerts you to vehicles approaching from behind and how far away they are via a beep and a display on the bar-mounted head unit.
The top three models all get front and rear bike lights and a carrier rack as standard, with the rear light built into the rack.
The Neo 1 EQ and Neo 2 EQ (with EQ signifying “equipped”) also have a Garmin wheel sensor. First seen on the Treadwell hybrid bike, this transmits speed, distance and other stats to Cannondale’s smartphone app and also reminds you when your ebike needs a service.
Comfort comes in the form of an SR Suntour suspension fork for all bikes except the base model, with 63mm of travel and a lockout. At the rear, there’s a suspension seatpost – again on all except the lowest spec Adventure Neo 4.
As well as suspension, the Adventure Neo 3 EQ has a dropper seatpost, which Cannondale says makes getting on and off the bike easier.
There’s a single chainring Shimano drivetrain on all the bikes, with either 10-speed or 9-speed derailleur shifting and a built-in chain and chainring protector.
Other features include a kickstand and – on all but the base-level spec – mudguards. All are compatible with a bolted-on Abus rear wheel lock and come with a Bosch Purion bar-mounted display.
Each spec has a couple of colour options and Cannondale says availability will be from March 2021.
