This time last month, BikeRadar reported on a sub £1,000 Boardman road bike being in the pipeline. We've since got our hands on the £999 Road Team Carbon LTD, and here's the lowdown.
If the Team Carbon LTD's carbon frame looks familiar then don't be too surprised – it's been formed in the same mould as Nicole Cooke’s 2008 Olympic road race-winning frame.
Power is directed through an FSA Gossamer compact (50/34T) chainset, with a PressFit 30 bottom bracket, while the remainder of the transmission consists primarily of Shimano Tiagra components, topped off with a 105 rear derailleur.
The Team Carbon LTD rolls on Mavic's robust and reliable CXP 22 wheelset shod with Continental Ultra Sport II rubber. Stopping happens courtesy of Tektro's no-frills R539 dual pivot calipers.
Although this looks set to be a popular bike, Boardman have restricted the production number to 2,000, we wouldn't be surprised to see a very similar bike making its way into the company's 2014 lineup, though.
The official claimed weight is 8.8kg (19.4lb) – we'll confirm that on our scales once we get a review together, but for now we're busy getting the miles in.
