The eagerly anticipated BikePark Wales development officially opens its doors to the public tomorrow, Saturday 24 August. The full-scale mountain bike park is a first for the UK and is the result of five years of research, preparation and construction.
Twenty three varied sections of trail will be accessible to riders of all abilities, with a colour-graded system used to indicate the technicality of each section. Detailed information on each trail, along with a full explanation of the gradings, can be found on the BikePark Wales website. The uplift facility has sold out for the first week but riders will still be able to travel the park via the singletrack climb.
Riding aside, those who visit this weekend will have plenty to explore. Park sponsors Mountain Biking UK will be present with subscription offers and free stuff to dish out, and Trek will be bringing a fleet of demo bikes along with a special Project One display. Suspension gurus Mojo will also be on hand with 2014 Fox products and suspension setup tips.
The gates will open at 9am on Saturday; a day pass will cost £5 and is available to purchase from the visitor centre on the day. Parking is free.
