The new BH Lynx Race cross-country bike has redesigned split-pivot linkage, sleeker frame integration and a longer reach.

The new Lynx Race is designed for top-flight cross-country and marathon racing and, as with the previous generation, BH offers the bike with either 100mm or 120mm of rear-suspension travel.

The long-travel Lynx Race LT models start at €6,299.99 for the 9.0 model, with the range-topping 9.9 model priced, rather fittingly, at €9,999.99.

The 100mm Lynx Race range starts at €4,899.99 and tops out at €8,299.99 for the Lynx Race 9.5.

BH says the bikes are available to order now.

Split Pivot evolution

The new bike is constructed using BH’s Evo Carbon layup. BH says this is its highest-modulus layup.

BH says it has redesigned the split-pivot linkage on the Lynx Race around the 120mm-travel option for the first time. The previous generation was optimised around the 100mm option.

The brand says, that while the linkage is optimised for 120mm travel, it remains efficient for 100mm travel.

BH says it has made the connection between the front triangle and the swingarm 35 per cent stiffer than the previous generation by using oversized bearings in the main pivot axle near the bottom bracket. The rocker link axle has also been redesigned.

This added stiffness is said to aid pedalling efficiency as well as handling.

Overall, the bike looks a lot sleeker than the previous model, with the seat clamp now integrated into the frame – a trend commonly seen on many modern cross-country bikes.

The bike now features internal headset cable routing and a steering lock.

BH says this prevents the handlebars from damaging the frame in the event of a fall and should make it less likely for cables to be pulled out of brakes and shifters.

The previous bike only had space for one bottle, making it difficult to carry water on longer events. - BH

Marathon racers will rejoice in the knowledge that the new Lynx Race now features two bottle cages, though a small adaptor is needed to fit a second cage to the seat tube so it doesn’t interfere with the suspension.

Refined geometry

BH’s new Lynx Race is available in four sizes; small, medium, large and extra-large.

The geometry of the Lynx Race remains similar to the previous model, with head angles remaining at 67 degrees.

Chainstay lengths remain the same too, with 430mm featuring through the size range.

Seat tube lengths have steepened by 1.2 degrees, from 74.8 degrees to 76 degrees and BH has also lengthened the reach to 470mm, up by 22mm from 448mm for a large-sized frame.
