A new mountain bike trail is being built at Coed y Brenin in north Wales which is aimed at beginner and intermediate riders.

The blue-graded Minor Tour trail will be 10km long, and is set to be completed in December 2013. The first 4km of the new trail, however, is set to be ridable at the end of January.

Built using money from the European Regional Development Fund, the trail will provide a much-needed stepping stone for riders who aren't ready to tackle the centre's more challenging red- and black-graded offerings.

FC Wales mountain bike ranger Andy Braund said, “We felt it was important to be able to introduce the fun of mountain biking to as many people as possible. We’ll finally have a trail to offer to those just starting out in the sport and trying it out for the first time. It'll appeal to a diverse group of children and adults, and allow for the use of adaptive bikes that cater for a wide range of disabilities.”
