Originally developed in 2015 as a training tool for its roster of world title winning enduro and DH athletes, Nukeproof's Digger has gained quite a following of non-pro riders as a capable do-it-all gravel bike.
For 2019, the bike has evolved again, further blurring the lines between MTB and gravel as it edges further down the spectrum to extreme.
With wide bars, bolt thru-axles, disc brakes and dropper post compatibility, the idea is that the Digger can add elements of flare to training rides, coaxing you away from paved or even gravel roads into more extreme territory. But only if you’ve got the right skills.
The bike comes standard with 47mm wide tyres mated to 650b wheels but you can run 700c rims if you’d like. The size large has a 403.3mm reach, 425mm chainstay, 1,039.5mm wheelbase, a 71.3-degree head angle and 74-degree seat angle.
The Digger’s available in two models; the Pro and the Comp. Both feature SRAM 1x 11-speed drivetrains and SRAM hydro discs, the Pro is equipped with Rival and the Comp with Apex.
The Comp is fitted with WTB rims and tyres, while the Pro model gets Nukeproof Horizon wheels and a smattering of Nukeproof own-branded and some branded kit to make up the finishing kit.
The Pro model is also decked out with a dropper post from Brand X that has a 120mm drop — more than ample if you’re looking to get sendy on your gravel grinder. Both models feature a carbon fork, threaded bottom bracket and mounts for both mudguards and panniers.
The icing on the cake is that in both guises the bike retails for less for than £2,000. The Pro model will set you back £1,849.99 and the Comp is £1,499.99.
