Spanish freeride star Andreu Lacondeguy has signed to ride for Mondraker bikes next season and will ride the well-received Summum downhill rig at this weekend's Red Bull Rampage.

The 21-year-old from Barcelona has also switched to Unit clothing – a brand that has its roots in the freestyle motocross and BMX scene; another of his passions – with further sponsors to be announced soon.

“Mondraker build all different mountain bikes as well as BMX – that way I don’t have to decide for one or the other," he said. "My new downhill bike barely weighs 15.5 kilos! Plus, it’s really great for me that they are from Spain just like me.

"Kona was a great bike partner for some years and I’m grateful for their support that helped me get to where I am today, but we all change and sometimes need new challenges, so it's the right time for me to move on.”

Lacondeguy joins former downhill world champion Fabien Barel on the Mondraker squad, as well as former French four-cross champ Aurelien Giordanengo and World Cup downhiller Damien Spagnolo.
