The latest crop of plus-sized and fat-bike tyres have changed the landscape of air pressure, and Blackburn has new floor pumps to address this.
Blackburn has five new pumps: one that is high-volume specific for mountain bikes and the other four for both road and mountain use. All of the pumps are compatible with any bicycle valve, have easy-to-read gauges, and feature tough, steel construction for dependability.
Chamber HV
Mountain bike tyres rarely need more than 50psi, and the new crop of wide rims (30mm wide internal) as well as plus-size tyres and fat bike's massive rubber need much, much less in terms of air pressure. With plus-size tyres and even more so with fat bike tyres, each psi makes a huge difference, and dialing in those ultra-low, ultra-precise pressures can be tricky when using a pump that goes up to over 100, or even 200psi. Companies have taken note, offering pressure gauges for reading the ride-changing low numbers.
Blackburn's new Chamber HV floor pump tops out at 50psi (3.4 bar) and is designed to deliver a huge amount of air with each pump thanks to its oversize barrel. The large, 4in gauge and pressure release valve on the pump head should make hitting your exact pressure super simple. The big barrel could also be useful when setting up tubeless tyres, as a huge rush of air is needed to pop the tyre beads out to the rim. We'll hopefully get a Chamber HV pump in on test and do a proper review.
