Rapha says its new Pro Team Bib Shorts III are the brand’s “most comfortable high-performance shorts yet”.

The bib shorts use a proprietary chamois, a new pattern and garment construction, and proprietary textiles to achieve the claimed comfort.

Part of its top-spec performance line, Rapha says the Pro Team Bib Shorts III have been tested over a mind-boggling 400,000km, with input from WorldTour athletes.

Lachlan Morton used the shorts for his controversial Auckland to Wellington record attempt

James Stannard, senior product manager at Rapha, said: “Whether you’re gearing up for your next race, chasing a QOM, or planning your hardest ride to date, these next generation bib shorts are built for unhindered focus on the absolute limit.”

Available for men and women, the shorts come with regular or long legs and cost £240.

At the heart of the Rapha Pro Team Bib Shorts III is a new proprietary chamois, which Rapha says was a key focus in its design process.

The seat pad has an increased high-density foam and is said to conform to your body while wicking sweat away quickly.

Rapha says iterations of the chamois were tested by elite-level riders.

“The result is supreme comfort during your hardest efforts,” according to the brand.

Rapha says its atelier and design team “went deeper to innovate the pattern and garment construction”.

The new bib shorts feature minimal seams and fewer fabric panels. There are low-profile bib straps, laser-cut hems and a mesh waist.

Rapha says these details ensure an optimum fit and support.

Woven fabric

The legs and bibs section of the shorts use a proprietary textile technology, according to Rapha.

Rapha says the Italian-made woven fabric was selected for its high strength-to-weight ratio, aiding an “engaged fit and increased chamois stability”.

The fabric is also said to offer thermo-regulation, form-following flexibility and compression.

Alongside two leg lengths, the shorts are available in black, black and white, navy blue, or green.
