Canyon has released an all-new Neuron:ON CF electric mountain bike featuring 140mm of rear travel and a more aggressive geometry that is longer, lower and slacker.
The direct-to-order brand will continue to produce an aluminium Neuron:ON, with the frame remaining the same as last year's model.
The new carbon bike range starts at £4,599/€4,799 for the Neuron:ON CF 7 with 625Wh battery pack, and is topped by the Neuron:ON CF 8 at £5,349/€5,599.
There will be three carbon fibre models at launch, with Canyon saying there are more to follow later in the summer.
The electric mountain bikes are available to order from Canyon’s website.
Lighter and more capable
Canyon says it has started from the ground up with the Neuron:ON CF, aiming to make the bike more capable than its aluminium sibling.
It has done this by using a carbon layup and frame architecture that is similar to the Strive:ON electric enduro bike.
Canyon says using carbon fibre has enabled it to make the Neuron:ON stronger and stiffer, while reducing the weight compared to the aluminium model.
The Neuron:ON CF’s frame has 10mm more travel than the aluminium frame, up from 130mm to 140mm, and only 10mm less than the Spectral:ON.
The new bike will run solely on 29in wheels, which Canyon says adds to the all-day efficiency of the bike and aids with technical climbing.
The bike uses a Bosch Performance Line CX electric bike motor, with 85Nm of torque, married to a Bosch PowerTube battery.
The Neuron:ON CF 7 has the option of a 625Wh or 750Wh pack, the larger of which adds £200/€200 to the bike's price tag. All models above this in the range feature a 750Wh pack as standard.
The aluminium bike now uses Shimano’s EP6 motor instead of the EP8 found in the previous generation, and will be available with a 630Wh or 504Wh battery pack.
Canyon says the Neuron:ON CF is lighter than the aluminium-framed bike. The Neuron:ON 6 with 630Wh battery has a claimed weight of 24.6kg, while the Neuron:ON CF 7 with a 750Wh battery weighs 23.4kg.
eBike Alarm
A Bosch BCM3100 Connect Module is pre-installed on all Neuron:ON CF models and includes a free 12-month subscription to the eBike Alarm function following its activation.
A 12-month trial is included with the bike, which can be renewed for €4.99 per month or €39.99 per year.
Canyon Neuron:ON CF geometry
The new carbon mountain bike receives a more aggressive geometry than the aluminium version, with head angles slackening by 2 degrees from 67.5 degrees to 65.5 degrees on a size medium.
The head angle stays the same through the size range, with the Neuron:ON available in four sizes: small, medium, large and extra-large.
Chainstay lengths also stay the same through the sizes at 450mm.
The reach measurement has increased from 435mm to 460mm on the carbon bike for a size medium.
