At this year's Sea Otter, Whyte showed off its new enduro machine, the S-150 C-RS. While carbon-framed enduro rigs are not much of a departure for the UK company, wrapping those traits around 29in wheels is definitely new.

In true British fashion, the big-wheeled Whyte is built for muddy abuse with oversized pivot hardware, a threaded bottom bracket and rubber seals at all possible water entry points on the frame.

Whyte S-150 C-RS features

  • Carbon front triangle, alloy stays
  • 150mm rear travel with a RockShox Metric RS Deluxe rear shock
  • 150mm RockShox Pike fork
  • ISCG-05 mounts
  • New pivot/bearing system — larger diameter bearings — alloy pivot hardware
  • Collet type lower main pivot axle
  • Flat Mount rear brake
  • SCR (single chainring) — 1x specific frame design
  • Boost axle spacing front and rear
  • 73mm threaded bottom bracket
29-inch wheels are a bit of a departure from Whyte's typically well-sorted 27.5in models

Whyte S-150 C-RS geometry

  • HT Angle — 65.5-degrees
  • CS Length — 435mm
  • Stack — (LRG) 641mm
  • Reach — (LRG) 474.4mm

Aiming for enduro

In addition to the 150mm travel front and rear, the S-150 has all the up-to-date enduro traits: metric rear shock, ISCG05 chainguide frame tabs, room for proper width tires (up to 2.8in if you run 650b wheels) and no provision for a front derailleur.

Even the geometry is on-point, bucking the shorter-is-better rear end trend and adding some millimeters to the chainstay length to center the rider on the frame and add a bit of stability when hitting mach speeds.
