The Addict nameplate from Scott has always conjured up images of featherweight carbon masterpieces ascending tarmac at a group-shattering pace. Beyond the road, the Swiss firm has applied that no-holds-barred formula that light equals fast to cyclocross bikes, and now gravel bikes as well.

Built for the less maintained road
Gravel bikes, otherwise known as all-road, adventure, or somewhat jokingly 'groad' bikes, have certainly made an impact on the road side of cycling. Their main draw is the ability to leave the pavement and its associated cars, noise, and familiarity, and venture onto dirt roads, paths, and forest roads.
In that vein, Scott has taken its Addict cyclocross frame, with relaxed 71-degree head angle and lengthy 1,056mm wheelbase, and added slightly wider rims to bulk out the Schwalbe G-One 35mm tires.
The gearing is a single ring SRAM Force 1 drivetrain. The 44t chainring looks to be a tad bit stout for the gravel roads and the associated altitudes I have in mind, but maybe the 10-42 spread out back will give me enough spin.
One thing I'm not concerned about are the SRAM hydraulic discs providing speed control for the Syncros carbon hoops.
Versatile
Having the name of Addict and utilizing the same HMX carbon fiber that Scott's pro-level road race rigs employ means it's a very light machine.
At under 8kg, I think it's entirely feasible that I might have to slip on some skinnier tires and (gasp!) stick to the roads should the need arise. Other than the relaxed geometry, the Addict Gravel 10 should be plenty fast in that guise.
