Cube Bikes will enter the burgeoning 29er market for the first time in 2012 with 10 new bikes. Cube say they've used their Agile Ride Geometry (ARG) to combine all the advantages of 29in wheels with those of the smaller 26in. They say they’ve achieved this by having a bottom bracket height identical to that of the smaller frames, plus a specially mounted front derailleur to give adequate tyre clearance, which means shorter seatstays for quicker handling.
The Elite Super HPC 29 and Reaction GTC 29 are Cube’s high-end hardtails. Featuring ARG for sporty handling, they have both bonded carbon frames with tapered steerer tubes, press-fit bottom brackets, simplified internal cable routing and post mount brakes.
The AMS 120 29 is Cube's full-suspension all-mountain bike. It aims to be a bike that won't hold you back on climbs but will give you plenty of confidence on descents. The frame features short chainstays and head tube, and a low bottom bracket height to mimic the feel of Cube's 26in AMS (All Mountain System) bikes.
The LTD and Competition series 29ers are full-suspension models with aluminium frames. The Attention and Acid (Competition series) are at the heavier end of the spectrum while the LTD PRO and SL feature lighter tubing.
We've already had a sneak peek at Cube's new downhill 29er, the Two15, which has been designed around the Fox DHX RC4 shock and offers more travel and lower weight than Cube's previous downhill model, the Hanzz.
The Two15
Cube say the Two15's Triple Linkage Kinematics "guarantee that compression and rebound (both high and low speed) work in a linear way over the complete travel". Finally, the company have announced they'll be doing a 29in electric bike, the EPO29. More information on this will follow, say Cube.
