At BikeRadar we're sometimes accused of neglecting the lower end of the bike market. While it's true that we're liable to get all frothy about the latest eight grand superbike, we maintain that all bikes matter, and cycling in all of its forms is a good and worthy activity.
With that in mind, Joe Norledge set out to ride 170km on one of the cheapest road bikes on the market, a bargain-basement Barracuda ordered off Amazon.
- The best road bikes under £1,000 for 2020
- Hope’s Team GB track bike will cost £15,550 + VAT for the frameset alone
If this bike looks familiar that's because it's the very same one BikeRadar's Joe and Reuben attempted to ride up one of the steepest climbs in the South West a year ago.
It's heavy, over-geared and under-braked, but does it matter?
Watch the video and find out how Joe got on and please, let us know in the comments if you've attempted something equally ill-advised.
