Trek has upgraded its WaveCel-equipped Blaze, Rally and Quantum mountain bike helmets to ensure a good fit for you.
All three helmets are aimed at trail riders, but each has its own distinct features.
The £199.99 Blaze WaveCel is an enduro-styled helmet with removable three-quarter coverage.
The £149.99 Rally WaveCel is a lighter-weight lid designed to optimise fit and comfort.
Finally, Trek says the £109.99 Quantum WaveCel is a trail helmet that also optimises fit and comfort, with the perfect balance of features and value.
WaveCel: ultimate crash protection
The Blaze, Rally and Quantum models were first released in 2019 when Trek launched its groundbreaking WaveCel protection technology.
On its release, it was claimed that WaveCel was the biggest change to helmet safety in 30 years.
Unlike many of its competitors, Trek says WaveCel counteracts linear impact and rotational forces.
How does WaveCel work?
WaveCel is a collapsible honeycomb-like layer that sits under the shell of the helmet.
It provides protection during a crash and is claimed by Trek to be 48 times more effective at preventing concussion than the same helmet without it.
It carries an independent 5-star rating from Virginia Tech's Helmet Lab.
Based on customer feedback, Trek has addressed issues regarding cooling and weight, increasing the size of the holes in the honeycomb structure by 10 per cent, with additional front vents added.
This is said to provide greater airflow for a cooler and lighter riding experience, shaving 15g off each helmet’s original weight.
Blaze vs Rally vs Quantum
All three helmets feature updated and lighter WaveCel tech, a 5-star safety rating from Virginia Tech, improved cooling and Layflat cam-locking strap dividers, but which helmet should you go for?
Trek Blaze
Retailing at £199.99, the Blaze is the most expensive of the trio.
It offers three-quarter coverage ear plates, which can be removed easily if you’d rather ride with a traditional half-shell.
Other features include a breakaway magnetic visor, integrated sunglasses storage, a micro-adjustable Boa fit system, secure magnetic buckle and a removable Blendr mount.
Trek Rally
The Rally has an extended back-of-helmet shell to provide additional protection. It also scores highly in the looks department, with integrated sunglasses storage in the goggle-friendly visor, which has three positions.
It features the same Boa fit system and Blendr mount as the Blaze.
Trek Quantum
The Quantum is the most budget-friendly model, at £109.99. It includes premium features, such as an adjustable visor and Headmaster III fit system.
Crash Replacement Guarantee
Alongside a standard two-year warranty, all three helmets are covered by Trek's Crash Replacement Guarantee.
This means if you crash your bike within the first year of purchase, Trek will provide a free replacement helmet.
