Ritchey’s design detail and manufacturing quality makes many a heart beat faster and the Pro Paradigm won’t disappoint in either respect. SPD compatible, the axle and bearings have been designed to combine strength and durability with smooth running performance.
The rotation is silky and remains beautifully so, even after some horribly mud-encrusted outings. Mud was the only downside, with clearance not as good as some of the other SPD styles available. But the performance upside will more than compensate for most riders. The familiar click in and out is as you'd expect and the ride is smooth and responsive, with a feeling of security even up the gruntiest of climbs.
The minimal platform means you'll need to run a stiffer soled shoe to get the best out of it – no slouching along in your skate shoe look-a-likes here please. We usually expect either lightweight pared down design or rugged dependability – the Pro Paradigm gives you both.
