Full carbon stems are still a rarity among high-end components, with the amount of material needed to create a solid structure meaning little weight benefit. 3T’s Integra, with its svelte 178g for 120mm, bucks that trend, although the hefty price tag limits its appeal.
The full structure is impressively rigid. The clamp is wider than most stems on the market, making for a solid connection free of flex. The options available are limited, with sizes between 100 and 120mm and a 10-degree drop. If the angle and length suits then you’d be hard pushed to find a full carbon stem that comes close in terms of quality.
The real benefit, though, is the Garmin Edge R Mount (an extra £34.99). The shroud cover integrates the Garmin mount 2.5in in front of the stem clamp, and also lower for a more aerodynamic profile. This puts the head unit in your eyeline without having to look down.
