One of many models in the German sportswear giant's extensive range, the Ultimateadidas Run Medium-Support Bra is designed for medium-impact sports such as running and cycling.
The sports bra is made with lightweight recycled and sweat-wicking fabrics, and has an adjustable fit.
Don’t let the unwieldy name put you off; this is a great option for a supportive multi-sports bra featuring great coverage, that’s easy to wear.
Adidas Ultimateadidas Run Medium-Support Bra specifications and details
Featuring a crop-top style front with crossback, adjustable straps and a hook-and-eye closure, this is a medium-support sports bra with optional padded cup inserts.
The main body of the polyester/elastane fabric is constructed using 50 per cent reclaimed ocean plastic, while Adidas claims the bra uses at least 70 per cent recycled materials in total.
There’s also a small portion of mesh at the back.
The fairly wide elasticated chest band measures 3.5cm, with crossback straps that are 2cm wide.
The bra is offered in a range of sizes, from XS to XL, each with the option of a smaller A-C cup size or a larger D-DD cup.
Adidas Ultimateadidas Run Medium-Support Bra performance
I tried both the medium and large sizes of this bra (cup size A-C). The Adidas size guide suggested that, as a 36B in conventional bras, I should use the medium A-C, although Adidas states that this model runs small.
I found both sizes could work for me; the medium provided a more close, supportive fit, while the large was a little more relaxed.
Getting the bra on and off was fairly straightforward, thanks to the hook-and-eye closure at the back. The bra could be slipped off over the head with much more ease after an intense session than a standard crop-top style bra.
The Ultimateadidas Run bra offers a fantastic level of coverage and a great shape, thanks to the removable cup inserts.
These are cleverly shaped to keep their position in the bra, unlike some cheaper generic bra and bikini inserts that are prone to shuffling about and causing a fair amount of irritation.
The bra offered great support and a close fit without being restrictive or causing any bulging.
The only issue I found was at the junction between the front panel of the bra and the straps at the tops of the shoulders.
Here, the way they're joined caused some irritation that left indentations on my skin. I tried loosening off the straps a little, but still found the same outcome.
Otherwise, the bra was really comfortable, even on day-long rides.
After more intense efforts, the bra would become a little sweaty at the front, by the chest band, and at the back, but this build-up of sweat wicked away relatively quickly.

Bras on test
Adidas Ultimateadidas Run Medium-Support Bra bottom line
If I could discount the pinching I experienced at the tops of the shoulders from the strap hem, I’d happily list the Ultimateadidas Run Medium-Support Bra as the best sports bra for cycling on test.
In all other respects, it excels. The fit is great and the coverage is fantastic, thanks to the removable cups and top-notch support, without feeling too restrictive.
Adidas has delivered all of this, at a fair price, while still incorporating more than 50 per cent recycled materials.
