With a traditional four-pocket layout and featuring belt loops, a zippered fly and zip detail on the rear pockets, the Liquistretch shorts from Surface look great and work hard. They’re about knee length and have a fairly slim, modern cut, so they ooze high street appeal, but also have a technical weapon up their sleeve.
The fabric they’re made from offers a great combination of features – it’s wicking, showerproof and stretchy – which has made these shorts a staple through the summer for work, lunchtime blasts and off-the-bike styling. For more serious rides, you’ll need a separate liner, and the material isn’t fully waterproof although it does dry quickly. Even though they’re not designed as an out-and-out riding short, we’ve seen a lot of people using them as such – presumably because they’re incredibly comfortable and their casual looks offer ‘ride to the pub’ versatility.
