The Alp X iV LF is a versatile glove from Gore with a number of intelligent features that make it a great choice for general riding, but it did develop a loose stitch on a palm panel during testing.
Plenty of reflective detail on both the back and front of the palm and fingers contribute to safety on the daily commute, while well-placed gel padding at the heel of the hand helps with reducing buzz while retaining a good grip of the bar.
An elasticated wrist helps to secure the glove without having to overtighten the side Velcro fastening, while elastic articulation on control fingers and soft suede add to the really snug fit.
Our sample did start to shed a few stitches from the double-thickness palm suede from a non-critical seam. That said, we really liked the extended snot wipe that runs from the thumb over the back of the hand, and the mesh back aids cooling on hot days.
