Nearly every time we’ve posted news about the Genesis Croix de Fer, you, the people, have cried out for the much loved steel do-it-all bike to finally adopt thru-axles. Well, the time has come and it will finally be available with thru-axles in 2018.

- Genesis Croix de Fer 10 review
The new Croix de Fer is only available as a frameset for the time being — Genesis believes that the bike’s core market still values the ease of finding spares for QR wheels — so will stick with the old-style frame for complete builds for the time being.
This is also the first time the Croix de Fer has been available in 853, Reynolds’ top-spec non-stainless tubing.
Genesis claims that the new Croix de Fer fork is one of the first steel forks with flat mount disc mounts to hit the market.
The unicrown fork looks relatively plain at first glance, but a closer inspection revealed the rather handsome ‘socketed’ 12mm thru-axle dropouts. Very cool.
Geometry wise, the bike remains unchanged from the Croix de Fer of old and other than the move to thru-axles and flat mount brakes, all other fitments remain the same.
The frameset comes in at £899 with full availability expected later this year.
