Suspension manufacturer Fox has released two all-new rear shocks, designed for trail riding and cross-country racing.

The new Fox Float and Float SL will replace the existing Fox DPS models, refining Fox’s line-up of air shocks, and sitting alongside the Float X and Float X2.

The Fox Float starts at £399 for the Performance-spec shock, rising to £569 for the top-flight Factory shock. The Performance Fox Float SL also starts at £399, with the premium Fox Float SL Factory shock priced slightly higher at £589. International pricing is TBC.

New Fox Float shock specs

The Float is designed for trail riding. - Fox
  • Designed for trail use
  • 293 grams (170x35mm)
  • Available in standard and trunnion sizes
  • £399 to £569

According to Fox, the new Float is designed for weight-conscious trail riders who still value grip and control when things get rough.

Borrowing damper technology from the larger Float X, the new Float uses an in-line design (without an external reservoir) to save 150 grams over its burlier stablemate.

The Fox Float has a large EVOL air spring for increased sensitivity and grip, and gets a new, remote-compatible two-position lever to change from a fully open mode to a tuneable firm mode.

The Fox Float is available in all three specs – Factory, Performance Elite and Performance.

New Fox Float SL shock specs

The Float SL is slightly lighter. - Fox
  • Designed for cross-country and marathon use
  • 235 grams (170x35mm)
  • Available in standard and trunnion sizes
  • £399 to £589

The new Fox Float SL is designed for super-light performance, as its SL moniker implies.

Its in-line damper design is borrowed from the new Float, albeit in a stripped-down package.

A remote-compatible three-position lever enables you to switch between open, medium and firm modes.

The Fox Float SL is available in all three specs – Factory, Performance Elite and Performance.
