This August, the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) is encouraging bike riders to take on their nearest IMBA Epic route. If life has other plans, IMBA is hoping for nominations to add to its special 'Epic' designation.

What's an Epic?
What is an IMBA Epic ride? According to IMBA, "It's a demanding, mostly singletrack trail ride in a remote, backcountry setting. Epics are at least 20 miles long and both technically and physically challenging. The 37 current IMBA Epics can be found in almost every region of the U.S. plus Australia, Canada, Iceland and Wales. These rides serve to offer inspiration and should be on every mountain biker’s bucket list."
For more than a decade, the Epic and Ride Centers chosen by the IMBA Model Trails program have become go-to mountain bike destinations that are said to influence communities across the country and the world. Additionally, local mountain bike groups can utilize their local IMBA Epic trail as a location for various events such as fundraising and community building.
Social it up
In addition to getting out and going on a super fun ride during the month of August, IMBA is encouraging people to tag #imbaEpic on social media through August 31 for a chance to score some free goodies.
If there are no officially designated Epic rides near you, IMBA says it wants you to nominate your favorite trail through August 31 to be considered for an Epic designation.
Or just use this as motivation or a reminder to get out and ride, after all that's the most important part.
