North American cross-country racer Geoff Kabush (TeamMaxxis-RockyMountain) won the Vermont Pro-XCT race at the weekend, taking his tally of national series wins to a record-breaking 15.
Kabush’s 15th win surpasses the 14 wins of legendary US rider John Tomac.
A week after taking the cross-country win at the Bromont World Cup, Kabush was brimming with confidence for the Vermont event.
The field was strong, with the likes of Sam Schultz and Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski of Gary Fisher-Subaru and Specialized rider Todd Wells after the win, so Kabush could take nothing for granted.
But the Canadian set the pace throughout the race and launched an attack on the final lap to cruise to the finish line with a gap of over a minute on Tasmanian Sid Taberlay and two minutes on Wells.
