Just a month after its re-launch, the much-loved Calibre Bossnut has been given a hefty Black Friday discount, now selling for £999.

The previous iteration of Bossnut was a pioneer in the value trail bike category, offering exceptional performance for the cost.

Scoring 4.5 out of 5 in 2020, just before the COVID-19 pandemic thwarted production and stocks dried up, it was the go-to bike for shredders on a budget.

During its four-year hiatus, the Bossnut wasn't rivalled by offerings from other brands – such as Boardman's MTR 8.8 and the Polygon Siskiu – which left consumers hankering for a similar bike.

Now the Bossnut is back and this latest model hopes to carry Calibre's legacy of bang-for-your-buck performance into 2025 and beyond.

This is an amazing-looking bike for the original £1,700 asking price, but it's practically a steal at the discounted £999.

Bang-up-to-date geometry

Even for £1,700 it's a bargain, but at £999 it's practically a steal. Calibre

This latest model boasts bang-up-to-date progressive geometry, a jam-packed spec list of functional if not lust-worthy components, and now one of the most compelling asking prices of any bike of this ilk on the market.

Arguably, this makes it one of 2025's most exciting bikes and I'm very excited to test it soon.

The Bossnut's geometry is perfect for the type of riding it's intended for. It has a slack 64.5-degree head angle and a steep 78-degree seat tube angle. Reach figures on the XS to XL size range start at 420mm and lift to 500mm, so small and big riders alike will be catered for – it's unusual for a bike that is this affordable be available in so many sizes.

135mm of rear travel

Travel from the single pivot suspension design – that uses a short linkage to adjust the leverage rate – now sits at 135mm, up from 130mm on the old model.

This is damped by a Deluxe Select R rear shock with external rebound adjustment. Up front is a RockShox Recon Silver RL fork with 140mm of travel, once again offering impressive performance for the cash.

An extra bonus is the Bossnut comes with a dropper post. This is unusual for mountain bikes under £1,000, but it makes the Bossnut even more capable. Hooray!
