Canadian boutique brand 7mesh has begun selling what is now the world’s lightest rain jacket made of the new Gore-Tex Active fabric. The 7mesh Oro weighs a claimed 93g in size medium.

The Gore-Tex Active fabric is a hyper-light waterproof material that doesn’t use an outer layer over the breathable membrane, as past Gore fabrics have done.

The material is used by Gore in its new 116g One 1985 jacket, and by Castelli with its 120g Idro jacket.

The three jackets differ slightly in cut and design.

The Oro keeps weight to a minimum with elements serving dual purposes. For instance, the vents double as
pass-throughs for jersey pockets, and a pocket serves as a stuff sack that the jacket packs into.

7mesh forewent an elasticated bottom hem, instead going for a reinforced, reflective edge.

The jacket comes in six sizes, from XS to XXL.

Suggested retail pricing is $299 / £249.
