Just six years old as a company, ENVE continues to expand its offerings, with a new aero road handlebar, road disc carbon clinchers, direct-mount carbon stems and more among the 2014 product range.
The 3.4 Smart Enve System (SES) Disc wheelset, has a new disc-specific carbon clincher rim that saves around 100g per pair over the conventional 3.4 SES carbon clincher rims. Only available as a clincher for now, the wheelset uses 24 spokes front and rear, laced 3 cross to Chris King disc hubs, and they’ll be available in early 2014.
Cannondale is the first brand to spec the disc-specific carbon clinchers
Rim weights for the 3.4 series in grams, front and rear:
- 3.4 tubular – 377/398
- 3.4 clincher – 458/464
- 3.4 disc clincher – 400/415
To match the new wheelset, Enve have also updated their full carbon road disc fork, with two steerer diameters of 1.25in or 1.5in, both with a rake of 43mm and uncut weight of 435g.
Simon Smart has brought his aero knowledge to bear on two handlebars, an aero TT bar that BikeRadar reported on back in June, and a new aero road bar. The US$1,300 SES Aero Bar comes in a box filled with a comprehensive selection of adjustment options for the perfect fit.
The SES Aero Road Bar fits a 31.8mm stem and comes in 40/42/44cm widths, measured centre to centre at the drops. This does incorporate a 25mm flare from the tops to the lowest part of the drops, keeping the super flat and wide top section narrower for improved aerodynamics. Cables are routed internally, and exit the bars in a way that permits clip on aero bars to be fitted. The 250g bars have 77mm reach, 127mm drop and will retail for US$400.

The MTB market hasn’t been forgotten either, with three mountain bars in the range. The Sweep and Riser bars are aimed at XC and Freeride riders, and have each extended to 740mm from 700mm, weighing 180g each, with 9 degrees sweep, and the Riser bar rises by 23mm. For DH, the 800mm bar keeps the same 9 degrees sweep and 23mm rise, and is strengthened to the tune of 225g.
In a first for the DH market, Enve have produced a pair of full carbon direct mount stems, designed to work well with their DH bar – to the extent that the new graphic logo continues from the bar across the stem. The Direct 50 weighs 140g, with 50mm of reach with a 20mm rise, while the Direct 60 weighs 130g with 60mm reach and 15mm rise. Both have a conventional 31.8mm handlebar clamp diameter.
