It is just over two weeks until Yorkshire goes Tour crazy and, as the witty locals have already coined it, has a ‘grand departy’ to celebrate the arrival of the world’s best cyclists.
And even the Brownlee brothers – Olympic medal-winning British triathletes par excellence – are getting in on the Tour de France action.
Local lads Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee, Dare2B Yorkshire Festival of Cycling ambassadors, recently visited the stunning stately home that will welcome thousands of Tour supporters and cycling enthusiasts in a couple of weeks' time. They also checked out a couple of race courses that the organisers have put on to help amateurs get in the spirit of the big event.
The brothers completed the 2.4m time trial circuit lap in 5m 32s before taking on the off-road trail run through the grounds of the stately home near Leeds. Their time: 17m 03s.

The Dare2b Yorkshire Festival of Cycling aims to offer something for everyone over the grand départ weekend. The stacked itinerary includes live music, great food, camping, guided rides, a cycling expo and, of course, the best view in the house when the Tour rolls out of Leeds.
