For more than a century, the world's most prestigious and dedicated bike racers have done battle against some of the toughest climbs in the world, as part of the legendary Tour de France.

Back in April, we asked you, the BikeRadar readers, to vote for the most iconic of these mountain ascents, and now the results are in.

The Tour de France climbs you voted for are: Ventoux, Alpe d'Huez and Galibier.

In association with Oakley, we travelled more than 2,000 miles in five days to visit each one of these climbs and bring you The Most Iconic Climbs of the Tour de France, a three-part film series that shows just what it is that makes them so iconic.

Is it this summer's must-see epic trilogy? We'd like to think so.

The first in the series showcases Alpe d'Huez, the 'Hollywood climb'. It rises to over 1,360m over a distance of 13.9 and has a maximum gradient of 12 percent, making it a worthy challenge in anyone's book.

The film is scripted by respected cycling journalist Daniel Friebe, with voiceover by Olivier-nominated actor Tony Haygarth and an original music score written by musician and music producer Thom Thomas-Watkins.

You can watch it here – look out for the following two over the next two Fridays, or subscribe to the BikeRadar You Tube channel. You can also check out some behind-the-scenes shots in the gallery above.
