New Zealand bike manufacturer Avanti have landed in the UK, available now through distributor Paligap. Their range has been developed in-house by a team of engineers from both cycling and composites backgrounds, with a line-up that includes everything from round town hybrids to trail bikes and even a wind tunnel developed time trial bike. The latter will be adapted into a track version for the New Zealand track team at next year's Olympics.
Avanti Chrono Evo II
The Evo II has been in development over the last year and has a host of features we’d expect to see on a next generation time trial bike. The frame is fully UCI approved, and will see service next year with the Pure Black pro team. The flagship of the EVO lineup is this Di2 variant, developed in conjunction with Profile's Missile bar leading to no exposed wires or cabling.
Up front, the Chrono fork features a brake integrated into the broad shouldered crown. Its flat blades stay narrow and only taper outwards at the fork ends and take a standard width front hub. The integrated stem is machined out to take the indicator/adjuster for Di2 - a clever, neat touch that is said to help keep the Evo II as slippery as possible through the air. The frame is complemented with a pair of Zipp’s 808 firecrest tubular wheels.

Alongside the Di2 model is a slightly lower spec SRAM Red version, which also features Zipp 808’s. The base model Evo II is a mix of Ultegra and mechanical Dura Ace, combining with Shimano’s R501-30 aero clinchers. The fork is changed from the integrated brake version to one which will take a standard front calliper. Pricing isn’t yet set but is expected to be from around £4,500 for the base model, rising to around £10,000 for the Di2 superbike.
Avanti Competitor 29 Team
The Competitor Team is Avanti's top of the range hardtail 29er
Avanti are hitting these shores with a range of good looking hardtail and full suspension 29ers. The hardtail range is topped by the classy looking Competitor. The full carbon frame is complemented with DT Swiss wheels and a full complement of Shimano’s XTR. Up front, a 29er specific Fox 32 Float FIT Terralogic handles the bumps, with XTR also taking care of braking. As with the rest of the range, pricing is yet to be confirmed but it’s expected to be around the £6,000 mark.
Avanti Montari

It’s not only high end carbon 29ers from Avanti. We spotted this great value alloy 29er in the stable, which is expected to be significantly under £600. The Montari 29.2 shown here comes with a Rock Shox XC 32 TK fork and a mix of Shimano’s Acera and Alivio and M446 discs, all based around a 6061 alloy frame. At under £400, the 26" version looks to be a great value sport level bike.
Avanti Torrent

The range topping Torrent 3 is based around a 135mm travel 4-bar design, named the Tru-4. Up front, the 1.5” tapered head tube is plugged with a Fox Float RLC FIT fork with a QR15 compatible axle offering 140mm of travel. The bikes finished with SRAM's X9 drivetrain and Avid Elixir 5 brakes. The bar, stem, post and wheelset all come from Easton’s trail specific Haven range. Price is expected to be around the £4,000 mark, with two lower models starting from around the £2,000 mark.
Avanti Motiv

Avanti have a long history of involvement with pro level women riders, so it’s good to see that the women’s range on and off road offer no compromise specs and a pleasing lack of pink and flowers. The serious looking Motiv shares the Tru-4 4-bar linkage rear end and comes complete with a mix of SRAM X7/X9 components, Fox 32 fork, Easton wheels and Avid brakes. The price is expected to be around £2,500 with the 26.1 version getting a X5/X7 drivetrain and Recon fork for around £700 less.
Avanti Vapour

The 26 inch wheeled XC race ready Vapour 26.3 mixes SRAM X9/X0 components with Easton wheels, a Fox 32 fork and Elixir 5 brakes. Easton parts also take care of the cockpit and seatpost. With a lightened frameset that offers 100mm of travel, this looks like a seriously useful marathon ride. The Vapour range starts at £1,800, with the range topping 26.3 expected to come in at £3,500.
Avanti Vitale

The women’s specific road range starts with the alloy Vitale. The entry level 1 comes equipped with Shimano 2300 for around £600, while the Shimano 105 equipped 4 retails for around £1,200. Shown above is the three, which comes with the new 10 speed Tiagra group and Shimano’s R501 wheels. The Vitale's are available in 4 sizes from XS (50cm) to M (55). The women’s road range has been developed from the ground up with elite level New Zealand women riders, rather than smaller frames with women's specific saddles and bars.
Avanti Questa
The Dura-Ace equipped women’s Questa Team
Questa is Avanti's top of the range women’s road bike range, sporting the same finish as the men's Team line. The Questa has geometry optimised for women and with a specification the equal of the men's bike, this is one serious machine. This includes full Dura-Ace groupset, a carbon post, stem and bar from Zero and a DT Swiss Tricon R1700 wheelset.
Pricing is expected to start at around £1,800 for the Tiagra 10 equipped Questa 1, rising to £8,000 for the Di2 version. The Team Dura-Ace shown here is expected to sell for around £5,000, with a Ultegra Di2 version expected to cost £3,500.
Avanti Quantum Team PBR
The Pure Black Racing team replica bike - Quantum Team PBR
This top of the range race frameset is available in six versions, all sharing the same frame and fork design. The version shown above uses the highest grade R5 level carbon and is fitted with full Dura-Ace, including C24 carbon wheels. The entry level Quantum features a R3 carbon frameset and Shimano’s new Tiagra 10 with R510 wheels. The range is expected to be priced from £1,800 for the Tiagra equipped version to £9,000 for the Dura-Ace Di2 model.
