We first saw the ContourROAM at Cycle Show 2011, where we were impressed by its waterproofing and its price – at £199.99, it's substantially cheaper than the company's GPS (£299.99) and + (£499.99) models.
We were eager to check out was whether it stood up to UK importers Ultra Sport's claims that the ROAM's basic footage is as good as its more expensive brothers' and it just lacks the bells and whistles like GPS, Bluetooth and an external microphone port.
We've finally got our hands on one, and our initial impressions during a ride around the new Ashton Court trail in Bristol were very good. We reckon the image quality, recorded at 720p (1,080p Full HD is an option) at 30fps, is great, especially considering just how gloomy a day it was. Check out the video below and see for yourself:
