Intense have lifted the veil of secrecy surrounding their new downhill race bike, the 951.
Based around Intense's next generation VPP suspension platform, it boasts 8-8.5in of adjustable travel, an 83mm-wide bottom bracket, 1.5in headtube and ISCG 05 chain device mount.
It's made from proprietary Easton EA6 tubing and custom CNC machined 6061 aluminium, and a medium frame with Fox DHX RC4 shock is said to weigh 9.5lb.
The Californian company claim their latest rig "represents the evolution of downhill racing".
They say: "The sport of downhill requires a frame that can adapt to any track and the new 951 answers that call. Featuring World Cup-winning geometry that Intense is famous for, and added adjustability, the new 951 is ready to put you on the podium no matter what the mountain throws at you."
The first model to go on sale will be the FRO (for race only) with monocoque down tube and G3 dropouts – these allow you to adjust the chainstay length, bottom bracket height and head angle. It will cost approx. £2,249.
A less expensive (£1,979) standard model with a traditional down tube and fixed dropouts is in the pipeline. It will come with a Fox DHX RC2 rear shock. Both models will be available in three sizes and multiple colours – red, black, raw, white, green and blue.
